Bayside Acres

Approximately 45 minutes away from downtown San Francisco, Bayside Acres is one of San Rafaels smallest neighborhoods with less than 350 residents. Bayside Acres has 5 schools to offer and this small community is perfect for everyone who would like to escape the hectic city life.

Bret Harte

Bret Harte is a lovely, walkable residential neighborhood along the southern border of San Rafael in Marin County. The neighborhood is hidden in the hillside with abundant greenery, tree-lined streets, and a secret trail. Bret Harte Park is its key feature, the social center many families can call home, and earliest homes date from the late 1930s.

Canal

The Canal Area is confined on the east by San Francisco Bay, by the San Rafael Canal on the north and on the south and west by San Quentin Ridge.

Living in Canal offers residents an urban feel and most residents rent their homes. In Canal there are a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. The earliest homes can date from around the 1960s.

Contempo Marin

Contempo Marin is a Manufactured Housing Community located off of Smith Ranch Road in San Rafael. Contempo Marin offers affordable housing and often organizes happenings and events around the community.

Country Club

Country Club is a neighborhood in Marin County that offers residents a solid suburban feel and most residents own their own homes. Many retirees live in Country Club. It’s famous for the Marin Yacht Club. This community dates back to 1931 and has continued to grow over the years.

Dominican/Black Canyon

Dominican is a valley in Marin County and is situated southeast of Cerro, close to Saint Thomas Hall. It surrounds Dominican University and extends into Black Canyon.  The area includes older homes, built in the 1800’s, newer homes, as well as homes that were built on the site of the historic Hotel Rafael, which burned to the ground in 1928. The area has a Mediterranean climate good for year-round gardening.

Downtown

Located in Downtown San Rafael is the city centre San Rafael City Plaza, with its innovative water wall fountain. The plaza has become a community gathering place and the center of seasonal events such as the Thursday night farmers markets and summertime concerts. Downtown also has the Rafael Film Center which is home to the World Famous Mill Valley Film Festival in October.

Fairhills

Fairhills is a neighborhood in San Rafael, California with a population of 791. The public schools in Fairhills are above average.

Gerstle Park

The Gerstle Park neighborhood has strong ties to its historic roots of architecture, enjoys great diversity, one of San Rafael’s best parks and close-in to downtown walkability. Every year, the neighborhood collaborates with the City of San Rafael on major cleanup and Earth Day events.

Glenwood

The Glenwood Neighborhood is snuggled on the shore of San Pablo Bay. The marine climate is influenced by San Francisco Bay, so there is a slight temperature difference between downtown and Glenwood. Residents have easy access to hiking trails, enjoy wildlife and migrating water birds, while windsurfers and local fishermen utilize their shoreline.

Lincoln / San Rafael Hill

The Lincoln San Rafael Hill is located North of Mission Street, west of Highway 101, South of Fair Drive, and East of the San Rafael Hill.

Loch Lomond

Developed in the 1960s, the neighborhood includes around 200 homes located in a series of small streets with Scottish-themed names, such as Locksly Lane, Kinross Drive, and Dunfries Terrace. The marina itself features a hidden walking path, its own private yacht club and, of course, breathtaking views of the Bay.

Lucas Valley

Lucas Valley is located at the north end of San Rafael, in the Terra Linda neighborhood. Lucas Valley is unique in Marin, set against 700 acres of beautiful rolling hills. In the 1960’s, the famous builder Joseph Eichler, built 435 of his iconic homes in the Upper Lucas Valley.

Marin Lagoon

Marin Lagoon in San Rafael offers tranquil living in a cozy setting. Residents of Marin Lagoon enjoy a natural setting with beautiful landscaping, while also living a short drive from Highway 101, and shopping and restaurants at the popular Northgate Mall.

Marinwood

In 1955, the first homes of the Marinwood area were built near Highway 101, at the time a four-lane undivided highway. Since then the Marinwood area has continued to grow and has developed a firehouse, park, community center and pool.

Montecito

Montecito, known as Happy Valley is one of San Rafael’s oldest neighborhoods and it is located next to San Francisco Bay on San Pablo Bay and the San Rafael Canal. The neighborhood features a beautiful natural setting, elegant historic homes, a location convenient to retail shops and service providers, and a diversity of activity and community.

Mont Marin / San Rafael Park

Mont Marin San Rafael Park is a community of approximately 550 homes positioned in Northern San Rafael between Terra Linda and Marinwood.
